Product Info

Imagine writing a note or a class handout with the instructions, "Place In Water After Reading." To their surprise the paper will dissolve in the water! This is real paper that can be written on and used in most copiers and printers. The secret lies in the fact that the paper is made of Sodium Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (no, really, we didn't make that up.) It dissolves in cold water, hot water, steam, and most aqueous solutions. It's the perfect writing surface for secret agents, and a great way to teach about biodegradable products for waste reduction since this paper is non-toxic and environmentally safe. We recently ran a sheet of this through a color laser printer - when we put it in water and gave it a stir, the paper dissolved but the printing did not - we had a glass full of floating letters! You will get standard 8.5 x 11 inch (21.5 x 28 cm) sheets of paper. Available in packs of 15, 30, or 100 sheets. Send us a note and let us know how YOU used the dissolving paper.

  1. Dissolves as promised

    Posted by Unknown on 02 11 2017

Being a magician, I needed dissolving paper for an illusion I created. This item worked great doing exactly what it was advertised to do. I gave it a “four” only because it left the water very cloudy almost masking the fact that the paper was no longer there. Still it makes a moment that much more magical.

  2. Image Transfer with Dissolving Paper

    Posted by Unknown on 01 28 2017

I copied images to the paper with a laser copier and used it to transfer images to stones in an acrylic transfer process. Dissolve the paper with water to remove it after the transfer process dries.

  3. Non dissolving Paper

Unfortunately the batch of dissolving paper we bought simply did not work well. It would only dissolve if we stirred the water and had no more than 1 or 2 sheets worth in the 1 gallon bowl of water.

  4. Outstanding product for business project

I searched for three days to find Water Dissolving Paper - especially from a company that could/would deliver it quickly. Science Bob Store had the product and got it to me two days BEFORE I needed it. Way to go, Science Bob Store! Oh, and it worked beautifully!

  5. Works like a dream!

We use this for a hands on activity at camp... have about 150 people use it each day! Perfect!!

  6. Great Product

We used it for a confession of sin station at our church recently, using it as a visual display that when we trust in Jesus' blood as the payment for our wrong doings, the list of sins against us is gone. This product was a powerful tool. It doesn't dissolve totally (small white fibers float in the water) but the paper and writing is gone. Great stuff! Thanks for a great product. I'll be recommending it!

  7. Dissolving Paper is great

We use the dissolving paper in our Interactive Prayer Room for people to write their sin confessions on and then put in the water to dissolve and this gives them a visual of God washing our sins away. People give us great compliments for using this product.

  10. Great for Ceremony

    Posted by Robyn on 12 27 2015

Since we cannot use flame or candles in the facility we rent, the water dissolving paper was a great alternative for our end of year ceremony of releasing the old year, and welcoming the new. Our church community enjoyed using the element of water and watching the paper dissolve. It works best if warm water is used, and you give it a little stir when you put the paper in--we used 3x3 squares, perfect size, in 4 gallon bowl. Yes, it was murky after the 40th person deposited their slip, but that only added to the symbology of letting go of the grit of the past and opening to a fresh, new start. Thanks, Science Bob!
